Special Commendation - Riann Rhodes, British Red Cross
An Administrator at the British Red Cross, Riann
Rhodes has exemplified the saying “you
get out, what you put in”.
Riann has shown an outstanding commitment to her
Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship since she was signed up. The
Level 3 Standard is a step up from the old Framework and has been designed by
Employers to cultivate the knowledge, skills and behaviours those working in
Business Admin need to excel within their roles.
Before the programme, Riann worked as a Contract
Administrator. However, as she progressed with her Apprenticeship, she took on
sole responsibility for the Specials Equipment department. “I was not very
confident nor have I ever managed a project before. Through the apprenticeship
I now have a better understanding of the business I work for and how my role
contributes to their goal.”
As part of the programme Learners have to undertake
a real-life business project aimed at improving a process within the business:
Riann successfully created and implemented a cohesive and user-friendly stock
rotation system for service users. This project has had a significant positive
impact within the organisation.
“Riann’s project has made a real tangible
difference to financial aspects of this service, but also (and more
importantly) to our service users. I have noted that she has taken real
ownership of her sections of the service” – Nicole Martin, Riann’s Line
Manager.
Her success has not been without challenges: “I
had to make sure my planning for my apprenticeship was meticulous, as there
were many days where we were short staffed and I was required to assist in
helping out my colleagues. I also discovered I was pregnant halfway through my
Apprenticeship and had to battle through extreme morning sickness.”
Her commitment to the programme hasn’t gone
unnoticed by her Assessor Paul Britton: “Riann worked very hard, producing work
to a very high standard indeed. She was highly motivated over the length of the
course, carrying out lots of additional research and reading to support her
studies.”
We’d like to congratulate Riann on achieving a
Distinction at End Point Assessment (EPA), Riann is clearly a real asset to the
British Red Cross and we look forward to hearing where her new found confidence
and never give up attitude takes her in the future.
