Novus Property Services: Management Training

There’s often a misconception that training programmes purely focus on the young school, college or university leaver. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In reality our courses have no age or background limits and can bring equal benefit to individuals who are looking to get their first career placement as to those in long term careers who are wishing to enhance their skill set, as this outstanding example highlights.

Meet Steve Lucas.

Steve is Transport Manager for Novus Property Services. He’s in charge of a team that provides cost effective vehicle solutions and pro-active vehicle and driver management to the company’s nationwide vehicle fleet and its 700 drivers.

Significantly, Steve has been Novus’s Transport Manager for more than twenty years, during which time he has seen hisrole gradually evolve and develop – and it was this evolution that set him on a quest to strengthen his management and leadership skills through advanced learning.

The course.

Steve elected to do a Higher Apprenticeship in Management and Leadership NVQ Level 5 a foundation degree level course designed for managers who play an integral role in setting and supporting organisational objectives through strategic decision making, managing budgets, planning and implementing change, leading teams and managing programmes of complimentary projects.

After research, Steve decided that Intec, with its long-established professional training reputation, was the training provider of choice. The course was fully sponsored by a government support scheme.

The outcome.

The last time Steve undertook formal education was some 30 years ago. With a busy job role and the challenge of re-entering education, he was naturally concerned about the magnitude of his undertaking. He needn’t have worried, as he says:

“It was a substantial course and the time commitment to do it initially felt overwhelming. However, the flexibility with which Intec organised the course allowed me to achieve a realistic work/life balance. In fact, as the course progressed it became easier for me to assess the required commitment and ultimately it turned out to be very manageable.”

“My tutor was experienced and provided all the encouragement I needed including 1-2-1 sessions and email support, all of which combined to help me comfortably achieve my goals.

“The big question is, would I consider further study? Thanks to Intec, my answer is an absolute ‘yes’”.
