Scottish Apprenticeship week

The 19th May marks the start of Scottish Apprenticeship Week for 2014 which is now in its fourth year.

During the week there will be all sorts of events taking place throughout the country celebrating the success of Apprenticeship programmes.

Skills Development Scotland helps to fund thousands of Apprenticeships every year which, in partnership with employers, upgrades the skills of staff in the workplace. The funding supports the training and development of employees who are under 25 years old and leads to recognised vocational qualifications.

Taking on an Apprentice is cost effective and brings new energy into companies who are keen to build a workforce for the future.
This year Intec Business Colleges with support from Skills Development Scotland are holding a breakfast event to highlight the benefits to employers of getting involved.
The event will be at the Hilton Strathclyde Hotel, Bellshill, North Lanarkshire on Monday 19th May at 8:00 am.

Bill Porterfield, Head of Human Resources at Burn Stewart Distillers Ltd will be delivering a short case study. Burn Stewart have been delivering a successful Apprenticeship programme for some time and Bill will be relating their experience to an audience of employers.

All are welcome, Skills Development Scotland and Intec staff will be on hand to provide information and advice.
