Employing Apprentices can bring many benefits to your business:

• Fresh ideas and approaches
• Loyalty and dedication as you build a workforce for the future
• A culture of learning and development

From April 2015 Apprentices under the age of 21 will be exempt from employer national Insurance contribution (NIC) and in the Autumn statement the chancellor announced that this would be extended to Apprentices aged under 25 from April 2016.

Employers currently make NIC for all employees who earn more than £153 a week, although the current Apprenticeship minimum wage of £2.73 per hour does not break this threshold. This announcement is great for employers who want to recruit the highest calibre of young people by offering a strong salary package and giving their Apprentices exciting career prospects.
